Marlow Missionary Baptist Church was organized in 2008. My wife and I joined in 2009 while the church was meeting in a store front on the south side of town. The church moved to 415 W. Cherokee in 2011.
I was raised by Godly parents that kept my two sisters and I involved with church and training activities. Not until I was in college did the conviction reach me that church attendance and training is not the same as asking Jesus to be my savior.
My wife Brenda and I have a wonderful son and daughter-in-law who are patiently raising two active boys. They are much involved with their church and what is more important the four have a testimony of asking Jesus to be their savior.
I have always enjoyed “preaching” because I am shy and have a hard time with conversation. When I use God’s word I talk for Him.
The prophet Isaiah stated it clearly for me:
Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
Paul made it clear I have to share the Bible:
1 Corinthians 9:16 For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!
Truth has to be the main thing we share!
2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
